The Washington State Department of Health issued new interim return-to-work guidance for health care personnel with acute viral respiratory infections. This guidance aims to minimize the transmission of viral respiratory infections such as COVID-19, flu, RSV and other unspecified acute respiratory illnesses, while balancing patient safety and workforce sustainability.

It outlines return-to-work protocols for health care personnel with suspected or confirmed infections and applies to all individuals, paid or unpaid, working in healthcare settings. The department also published a companion FAQ document: RTW Guidance FAQs (Rosemary Grant)
