It can be difficult to know how to best support someone after a non-fatal overdose – an overwhelming, scary event for both the individual and their friends and family. The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) recently launched a toolkit designed to provide education and resources for families, caregivers, and friends who want to support someone who has experienced an overdose.
The toolkit includes information about how to be supportive following an overdose, education on treatment and support options, and the importance of balancing care for the individual and the support person. A resource library and one-page summary of the toolkit will be released later this year. Any questions about this resource can be directed to Sarah Melfi-Klein at HCA. (Brittany Weiner)
