Last week, WSHA submitted comments to Sen. Bill Cassidy as Congress considers major changes to the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program. Hospitals are deeply concerned that proposed restrictions could reduce access to care and place additional strain on financially vulnerable hospitals, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
These changes also risk limiting how hospitals use the program’s savings to support patient care and community health services. The association’s letter urged lawmakers to protect the program’s original intent and preserve the flexibility hospitals rely on to fund uncompensated care, rural health services, behavioral health programs, local pharmacies and other essential services.
