Candida auris, a drug-resistant fungal infection, has recently emerged in hospitals across Washington. Known for its ability to spread quickly and resist standard treatments, C. auris can cause severe illness in vulnerable patients and persist on surfaces if rigorous infection practices aren’t followed.
To support sanitation efforts, we encourage you to review policies, checklists and signage designed to support and reinforce sanitation and screening best practices. You can also visit the CDC’s page on C. auris for further information. (Kimberly Parish)
