On August 10, Providence hosted a roundtable on challenges with Medicare Advantage and Congressional solutions, including the Medicare Advantage Improvement Act and the Medicare Advantage Prompt Pay Act.

Erik Wexler, President & CEO, was joined by Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (D-WA-08) and leaders from Swedish, CommonSpirit, Lake Chelan Health, the Washington State Hospital Association, and the Washington State Medical Association.

The group discussed burdensome payer practices including prior authorization and documentation requirements, changing payer definitions and downcoding, payment delays, and claim denials, highlighting the impact they have on patients, care providers, and the financial stability of the health systems communities rely on.
