In partnership with WSHA’s Clinical Excellence and Hospital Governing Boards Committees, WSHA developed a series of governance education video shorts and accompanying facilitator guides for hospital boards.
The newest short is What Hospital Boards Need to Know About Patient Safety Structural Measures. This board education session provides an overview of the five Patient Safety Structural Measure (PSSM) domains and the critical role board members play in advancing patient safety. It highlights how effective governance, oversight and leadership help build a culture of safety, strengthen accountability and support the shared goal of eliminating preventable harm and improving patient outcomes.

Each governance education short is less than 20 minutes, making them an easy addition to a Board meeting agenda. In addition to the videos, there are facilitator guides to promote further discussion and engagement among Board members.

4. Press the play button to watch the recording
5. IMPORTANT! Press the “Complete” button after watching the recording to log the credit to your account
